A family member recently bought me 8gb of additional RAM for my computer. It's G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL11D-8GBXL. I currently have 8gbs of RAM by G.SKILL that's identical to this RAM except that it says 4gbx1 instead of 4gbx2. Anyway, when I installed the RAM on my computer anytime it accessed over about 4gb it would crash the program or give me blue screen of death. As far as I know the BIOS is set to handle 2133 at 11 11 11 30, the voltage is at 1.6v. I haven't changed anything. When I use both sets of RAM separately they work perfect no crashes or oddities. When used together though all my games fail. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong.

Here are my specs:
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
AMD FX-8320 Overclocked to 4.2ghz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Sandisk 128GB SSD + Single Drive
1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
8GB (4GBx1) DDR3/2133MHz Dual Channel Memory (G.SKILL Ripjaws X)
8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/2133MHz Dual Channel Memory (G.SKILL Ripjaws X)

Q:
I want to install more memory, in addition to my existing memory kit. What are my options?

A:
We do not recommend mixing memory kits, regardless of brand or model.

By mixing memory kits together, there may be compatibility issues such as unable to boot or unable to operate at rated specifications.

Each of our memory kit are thoroughly tested to ensure compatibility within each memory kit. And because we have not tested our memory kit with your existing memory kit, we cannot guarantee compatibility when multiple kits are used.

Okay I suppose I wasn't clear enough. I have 4 sticks of 4gb of ram. on 1 SET of sticks (so two sticks both 4gbs each) it says 4gbx2 on the other set (two sticks both 4gb each) it says 4gbx1. So I have 4 sticks. 2 of them say 4gbx1 the other two say 4gbx2. the set of 4gbx1 (two sticks added together equals 8gbs) is what came with the PC. the other set, which is identical in everyway except that it says 4gbx2 is what I received as a gift. BOTH sets work separately from eachother. When they are installed together my computer reads them properly (so 16gbs total) but crashes when I run a program. so again I originally had 8gbs of RAM 2 sticks that said 4gbx1 and then I got a new set of 2 sticks for a total of 8gbs. the only difference is that they read 4gbx2. when they are installed separately from the original set it says I have 8gbs of ram. If you read my original post and not just the specs I said that " I currently have 8gbs of RAM by G.SKILL that's identical to this RAM except that it says 4gbx1 instead of 4gbx2" so I have 8gbs of RAM already, im stating that the only difference on the label of these sticks is that one set of 2 sticks says "4gbx1" the other set of 2 sticks say "4gbx2" 1 set of 2 sticks=8gbs the other set of 2 sticks=8gbs when I put them together it equals 16gbs. Hopefully this clears any confusion
