16gb USB Stick possibly corrupt

Hello,

I recently tried cleaning up unwanted data from a relatively old 16gb (Adata C801) flash drive, and received an error from explorer as it was about a third of the way done deleting the files that I had selected.

After that, the drive seemed to be unreadable by Windows, and any attempts to format it have failed. Right click format, disk management format, delete partition in acronis disk director (this runs at reboot before entering Windows, and mentioned something about the drive's MBR in the error), and zero-filling the drive - all returned with write errors. Check disk won't run either.

The volume label as well as names of folders and files inside the drive are full of symbols, and files and folders are jumbled around in the list (folders normally being at the top when sorted by name).

My guess is that the drive has just given out and is beyond repair, but first I want to make sure that there's nothing I'm overlooking or any way of recovering it that I don't know of.

Thanks in advance,
Chris.
