Hi
I already have 16 GB (2x8) of G.skill trident Z 4133 Mhz ram in my pc but my friend offerd me another 16(2x8) gb ram of trident Z 4000 Mhz for a cheap price but I'm not sure if I should take it or not , my questions are :
  1. Would my 16GB old 4133 Mhz trident Z work together with the new 16GB 4000 Mhz trident z from my friend ?
  2. Can I set the frequency of both to 4133 Mhz ?
  3. Is there any benefits with 32 GB of ram ? Would it help with performance in gaming if the gpu is not bottlenecked ? I mostly play games at 4K ultra settings but there are a few games where I like to be competetive and get the most fps possible.
My specs right now :
MSI Tomshwak Z390
i7 9700K @ 5.0 Ghz
16 GB of ram Trident Z @4133 mhz (right now)
RTX 2080 Ti
1TB M.2 970 EVO SSD

Solution
If it's cheap enough there is nothing stopping you from adding it. More than 16gb for gaming isn't needed just yet but we are already moving that way pretty quickly. I've seen almost 12gb used while gaming personally. Clocking the 4000 to 4133 should be doable.

  1. Maybe. Mixed RAM often fails.
  2. Probably not. If anything, the 4133 will be downclocked to 4000. If it works at all.
  3. Are you currently running out of your 16GB?
No not really, but my friend is offering me 16 GB of 4000 mhz for very cheap since he cant use this memory for his ryzen 3000 build anymore
