so i checked my C drive today and it said i only had 600gb of storage left out of my 916gb HDD. but when i selected everything in the drive it said that only 135gb was being taken up. so that should mean i still have 781gb not 600! so what happened to the 181gb?
i also have hidden folders unable
any help would be appreciated thank you

Open control panel and search for "Disk Management." Look at all the partitions and add them up, there may be some hidden partitions with no letter assigned so you can't see it in your file explorer, but you may be able to assign a drive letter.

hey ToineF i did what you said and i think it worked. im up to 645gb now but still missing that other 140ish gb.
iCompute-doU i cant find "Disk Management." in control panel :/

Try this path: Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools
Then go to "Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management"

nvm after doing method 2 of wiki-how the problem was fixed. apparently system restore was allowed to use 181gb of storage. but after tweaking the settings it now uses gb. thanks ToineF :)

cheers!

Mark i have a 1tb hdd but 1tb is not literally 1000gb :) in my case i get only 916gb

Well, I have a 2TB hard drive, and while after formatting it only offers me 1.81TB of free space, I still call it a 2TB drive.

Deleting the recovery partition is someday going to force you to start all over with that drive. Windows can fix many problems by using the recovery partition along with recovery DVD's. But when you delete that 100MB+ partition, you pretty much kill that option.

i never said i didnt have a 1tb hdd -.- anyway my problem is solved xD
