Sorry for the green question but
I have some extra ramoney I would use to save money, is this okay? I have inexperience with gigabyte, my asus mb for example uses a function to use failsafe boot 1600 before launch so there is no mishap.. will I be able to do the same for this?

It should work. It will just operate at a lower frequency instead of the rated 1866 mhz.
