Hello all,
I am an art student and I'm fed up with my 50 lb 19" tube.
First of all, I'm quite aware that I'm not going to find a helluva fast 8ms panel with impeccable color reproduction and brilliant ergonomics, so I'm not even going to ask. What I AM looking for is a monitor that gives accurate color reproduction for my graphic design/modeling/video work, a REASONABLY low latency (sub 25ms would be ideal) so I can play the occasional round of HL2 without too much ghosting, and low brightness because I often work for many hours on end and value my eyesight.
I am not interested in a $600 model aimed towards graphic designers: I've got a max of $400 to spend on this. I was very tempted for a while by the HYUNDAI L90D+ but hesitated for two reasons: I frankly didn't believe that a PVA 16.7m model could also crank out frames with only 8ms latency; and the 300cd/m2 seemed a little bright.
I'm frustrated with the neverending flow of new models with "better" specifications and the ambiguity of most reviews. Are there any graphic designers out there who have come up with a quality solution?
Thanks for listening!
TB
