Hey everyone. So a couple hours ago i looked through my amd catalyst software and changing some settings for the resolution. it said i could enable more resolutions so i tried it out. I went ingame in Killing Floor 2 and i could do 2560x1440 and even 3200x1800. I thought this wasnt possible since my 24inch monitor is only supported up to 1920x1080@75hz.
Any ideas why i could do this? Would i damage the monitor if i force that resolution? i had no issues whatsoever when i played, i also noticed a big difference in detailing.

This is normal. you can choose a higher resolution than your monitor, the image will simply be downscaled to your monitor. This will not damage your monitor, as a monitor uses a microprocessor to downscale the image, whereas about a decade and a half ago, on ancient monitors, I have heard too high of a resolution could possibly cause some damage. But it will absolutely not with today's monitors that make use of processors to adjust the image properly to its size.

You probably stumbled upon VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) in Catalyst, you can read about it here.

VSR allows games to render at higher resolutions (up to 4K; see the ‘Virtual Super Resolution Support’ table, below) and then rescales them down to a lower native display resolution. Using this, you can get quality that rivals up to 4K, even on a 1080p display while playing your favorite games.
