Just been reading that ATI has launched the fire GL V7350 with 1Gig of GDDR3 and all just for $1,999 woo i'm gonna get 2.

true 128 floating point precision, 8 parallel geometry engines, 16 pixel shader processors, 512 bit ring bus memory controller, 10 bit display pipeline and high dynamic range 64bit per pixel display.

I spent $400 on my computer 5 years ago 😳 I hope to spend $1x00 on my next compy. But I'm not going to burn $2000 on a singl gfx card 😉

From what I've seen you could build a pretty kick ass system for 1500 dollars right now. Dedicate 500 to the card and its cooling and 1000 to the rest... and you could probably reuse some storage and cd drives from your old computer...

I like going to www.cyberpoweinc.com and drooling on what I could spend 1500 dollars on...

Well , FireGL vga Cards are for proffessional market as Quadro for Nvidia.

And it is specs will not help in gaming as it is based on x1800 ... and 1900 is already better than any 1800 improve ...

This card is for Engineers who lives on modeling on Catia, medina etc... well they charge USD 120 per hour... I presume that they can afford these cards.. but don't be fooled by these numbers... they just belong to another market.... One truck may have a lot of torch, but may run only at 90 mph... will this impress U ? But if U have over 10 ton weight to transport , maybe U would pay 60K on a truck very happy...
that's the point for firegl VGA cards...

From a gaming standpoint, 1 gb is absolutely useless.

Even for profesisonal 3d apps, you won't get any magic performance from 1gb of RAM. Only someone with a gig of textures in 3dsMAX or something will even see a difference in viewport performance, and I can't imagine that happening in 99% of the CG work done out there.

It's pretty much a marketing feature.

In fact a single Radeon X1900 XT will outperform it in games.

Gamers wouldn't benifit from these cards as they are workstation cards. Second of all Quad sli has a total of 2 GIG of memory for everyone thinking this is new. The quad 7900 GTX's have 2 Gpus and 1 GIG memory on each card. From benchmarks 2 gig GPU memory doesnt make a difference over 512 memory.

Second of all Quad sli has a total of 2 GIG of memory for everyone thinking this is new. The quad 7900 GTX's have 2 Gpus and 1 GIG memory on each card. From benchmarks 2 gig GPU memory doesnt make a difference over 512 memory.

Quad SLI doesn';t have 2 gigs of memory; it has 4x512 megs, which is distinctly different.

512 megs is dedicated to each GPU... it is not shared.

Every texture has to be copied to each bank of 512 megs, and each bank of 512 stores the same thing as each other bank.

So in reality, that new 1gb FireGL can store twice the textures as a 2gb quad-SLI setup.

I'll aggree with that unless I can find out otherwise, but it makes sense.

Of course DXTC, S3TC, and other forms of texture compression mean one could fit, and most games do this, 8 GB~ of bitmaps on said 1 GB video card.

@(Far above): The GPUs are not dual-core btw, it is just 2 x GPUs on one card.

There might be some aggregation of video memory performance via SLI interconnects aswell, but very little of the technical information is disclosed.

Still, in FEAR at only 1280 x 1024 (a pretty typical res to play in) Quad-SLI is scaling quite well. I still think Quad-SLI is a waste, vs Quad-Core (CPUs, or 2 x Dual-Core CPUs) which isn't a waste IMHO when working on video files, various servers, virtual machines, virtual network in a machine, etc

Still, whatever floats peoples boats = someones profits.

Great article. It shows the real-world gain of 512GDDR on games out right now. Obviously 512 isn't even worth the money right now, let alone 1G.

For the second time I was being sarcastic, and how the hell am I gonna use two at the same time (doubt there crossfire) unless I buy another rig and setup an mini renderfarm
I'm really into 3D animation so if I had one I wouldnt use it for games just thought you guys would like to know whats around the corner for gamer based cards.
