I'm looking at getting a new monitor and I have two in mind.
One has a 1ms and one has a 0.5ms response time and I'm wondering Is there a big difference between 1 and 0.5ms response time?

Not really a big difference at all, But if you are vary competitive in games where response time matters, probably best to go with the faster monitor, you can still be vary competitive with a 1ms monitor as well, but every second can count.

What are the monitors that you are looking at?

Thanks that's good to know. I mainly play driving games and a few shooters here and there so I'm not that crazy or super competitive.

The physical limits with current NON-OLED panels is around the 7-8ms and anything bellow just introduce more pixel trailing/blur and doest show you more detail or faster animations.

Whats more important is that the overdrive presets match your gaming fps system performance. Some overdrives are horrible under max-refreshrate.

0.5-1ms times are just marketing lies and nothing else. OLED is far ahead of anything we can buy right now, its not close, its by many factors faster.

OLED has its own problems as well: Burn-in, limited panel life, overheating and other than gaming not stellar performance. And of course it is pricey.

Overall mini-LED monitors are the best monitors right now, of course if you don't have money limitations.
OLED monitors are only better for the users who are eager to replace them as soon as their guarantee period is over.

I would get a mini LED but yeah they are priceier. Currently I have a Twisted Neumatic 144hz monitor with LED backlighting.
