Hi guys,

Looking at building my first computer (Budget)

What do you think of this setup and will the parts be compatible?

CPU: AMD A6-6400k (3.9GHz Dual COre)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-F2A55M-HD2 Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard
Mem: Crucial 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer
Wireless Adapter: Asus PCE-N10 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
Case Fan: Arctic Cooling Arctic F8 31.0 CFM 80mm Fan

Total cost: £282.06

Any Comments/suggestions greatly appreciated. Also, if you can help me drop the price, that'd be great, but I don't really wanna lose any performance.

Solution
Alright, well in that case, I would suggest this for you.

First off, all the parts are compatible. And don't even think about cutting price, because you have very minimal performance as is. I would actually suggest waiting, and saving up more money to build a more powerful rig. You are going to be playing a large majority of games at low settings at less than 30 fps with this setup.

What parts do you already have? I noticed you did not include a case or operating system. Do you already have those?

At first glance all of the listed components seem to be compatible. If you are not getting a GPU then a 500W power supply is not necessary. If you are not planning on getting a GPU in the future a 300W power supply should be more than enough to power the entire system.

Case is a "Fractal Design Core 1000 MicroATX Mini Tower Case" and running Windows 8.1

So how would be best to increase the performance of it?

Newbie to builds, sorry if I'm asking silly questions.

No, you're not asking silly questions. It's smart to get feedback before you buy.

APU builds like this are OK for budget gaming at 1280x720 and maybe 1600x900. But even the Kaveri 7850k is going to start to struggle in modern games at 1080p and above. And then there's the extra cost fo the high-speed RAM you need to use to get the most out of HSA/APU.

Best way to improve performance is go discrete CPU + GPU. And maybe save up enough for a budget PentiumG, i3 or FX 6300 or 8320 based build.

Honestly, It's mainly for Minecraft and World of Warcraft cause my little brother is in arse and got me into minecraft, and the missus likes WoW :L

You're gonna hate me for this, but im more of a console man for upper end games :L

Would this setup work for that do you reckon?

Thanks for the advice btw

Alright, well in that case, I would suggest this for you.

Great APU. And you can add a nice GPU in the future and the CPU will still be able to hold up fairly well.

And if you are willing to up your budget a little, this would be well worth the extra £15.

Here is a great insight of the AMD A10 7850K's gaming performance.

Solution
Thanks to both of you for your help, I think I will go for the 2nd one you suggested, however it says that the motherboard may need a bios update due to the chipset as I'm using a Kaveri CPU. Any ideas?

I'm glad you brought that up. I accidentally picked the A78x chipset instead of the A88x. The A88x chipset is just the newer release.

However, the compatibility notice is referring to the fact that some boards on the A88x chipset have been known to need a Bios update done before you can use the Kaveri CPU on it. Most brand new boards will always come with the latest Bios updates from the factory, especially on the latest chipset releases. You shouldn't have any problems here.

But if you ever did by some very unlikely chance, you would have to download the latest Bios for your motherboard from the manufacturers' website.

Here would be the final build with the A88x chipset motherboard.
