I'm just looking to put together a good, dependable box that will suit my needs. No gaming or overkill craziness. I use photoshop 20% of the time, Corel Video editor 20% Audio editing and other misc software=15% and the remaining is just internet surfing. I like to have online radio streaming while performing other tasks without strain. Really, if you knew the system I was currently running, you would wonder how it's even possible (it struggles and I'm not multitasking)

MAIN thoughts are MB too much/too little?
GPU I didn't list one, because I honestly have no idea -suggestions?
PSU- there are so many, its overwhelming. The FSP seems to have a good rep. ?
OS -Is it really time to go to W8? I'm ready to make the leap if it is, but I'm used to W7, and like it for desktop use.

I didnt list it, but I will likely install a Crucial 128G SSD for OS and use the other for media storage..

Other: There are so many CPU options for just the I3, What makes one better that other? Is it the integrated GPU? The one I chose? Is the I5 really worth moving up to?

Here is the build list,

Thanks in advance

Short answer, yes. i5 is much better than an i3. If you are going to play video games or do any kind of rendering you want the best CPU you can afford. In this case between an i3 and an i5, i5 wins. For other components can you tell us your budget?

You guys gave the answer I expected, but didn't want to hear...I knew in my head the I5 was the way to go, but wanted to stay on budget. As far as budget, I wanted to stay at $500 originally, looks like the list is at $502 right now, Lol

What would be a good recommendation for a "low end GPU"? Thanks

Whats you budget for the GPU?

Quick question, do you need to buy the Operating System (windows) or do you already have a copy?
It would really help if you already had a copy b/c otherwise you are ideally on a $400 budget. Which is very tight for a decent photoshop capable rig.

Rafi, good point. I think realistically, I have to allow additional budget above the OS, and yes I need the OS unfortunately...$400 doesn't go far...and yes, I'm in the US.

I'm no expert, but your list looks legit to me, that might be as affordable as it gets. Thanks!
