So guys I just pulled my old 2.5 500gb HDD out of my old laptop and it was formatted before putting it into my pc , and now when i go into Computer it doesn't show up , so I went to Computer Manager> Storage> Disk Management and to a surprise the 500gb HDD is there but when I try to Initialize it it gives me an error like " The request could not be performed because of I/O device error.

Hey there, Raven.

Just as @Uberragen21 suggested, you should make sure that it's properly connected. If everything seems fine and you're still getting that error - try with a different SATA port and with different SATA cables, to see if the same thing happens. If that doesn't work either, then go ahead and try with "chkdsk":
1. Open CMD (Command Prompt) as an administrator
2. Type chkdsk X: /r /f (where X is the letter of the drive you wish to check, so don't forget to change it)
3. Press "enter" and wait for the process to finish

Hope that helps.

Okay Well I tried doing so what Uberragen21 said and still no success, then I tried the chkdsk and i looked into my computer management > Storage > Disk Management and the HDD was there but it said it was inactive so I tried activating it and I got this error, I made sure also all my cables where tightly into the ports.

Hmm that's pretty strange. Would you please be so kind as to post a picture of what you see in Disk Management about the drive (you can use imgur.com to upload the image)? So I assume the drive was working fine up until you tried it with your desktop computer? Nevertheless if you're still getting errors, you might try updating or resetting the BIOS, to see if that fixes the issue. I'd also recommend that you download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool and test the drive, to see if any errors or bad sectors pop-up.
