2.5Ghz vs 3.0Ghz

Hello there, i have a somewhat old system but still i'm thinking upgrading my Pentium 4 2.5Ghz to a 3.0Ghz (it's the most my board can take).

Do you think it's worth it? Not in terms if price but performance. Will it be significantly better or negligible?

You could just buy a better heatsink/fan and over clock

It will be faster but by how much... not.. much. May as well get a new computer

If you get the new cpu dirt cheap then yes and then do as he says above.

There isn't much difference really to be worth the upgrade, you might notice 10%-15% gain.

I managed to pick up a P4 3Ghz Northwood from computer exchange in the UK for £15 about 8 months ago, might do betted on eBay.

True sometimes even free.I have given away several P4 systems (about 4 of them).No Charge.

On the HardOCP used forum I normally see P4s go for $10-20. I don't think I'd pay $30 for one unless it comes with an awesome heatsink as well. Your talking about an extra 500MHz, or 20% increase in speed. Probably not worth it at all, more so when you consider OCing.
