2-7 second freeze when tabbing out of game & stuttering but no fps problems when tabbing back into game

Hi there,
I've been trying to work out this problem for a fairly long time now.
I recently bought a gaming desktop and these are it's specs: http://prntscr.com/fmz2qy + 2tb harddrive.
Whenever I play a game and tab out for a moment for whatever reason it may be, I get a 2-7ish long freeze where I can move my cursor but I cannot click anything, tab to anything, etc. After this I'm then able to go about what I tabbed out for originally, and tab back into game. When I tab back into game, I get stuttering of my screen but there are no significant fps problems.
Please help?

The lag is normal if the games is at a differant resolution than windows. make sure they are both using the same video settings.

The only time I'm getting this jitter is when I tab out and have the 2-7ish second freeze then tab back in. I'm not sure how to solve this

Go into Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display>Screen Resolution to see what your resolution is set to. Then in the game check your resolution settings to see if they are the same. If those are the same check your games full screen mode setting and change it to windows. That should speed up alt-tab.

Sorry about the late reply - In windows mode, my FPS drops to 60 and my monitor is 144hz. The screen res is exactly the same. I'm not sure why it's freezing though. I even get in-game freezes for like, 2-3 seconds if not slightly longer + getting randomly tabbed out. No viruses, nothing that I can see causing it.

Check your bios to make sure its the newest and check all your drivers for updates. Reseat your video card to make sure its got a good connection to the PCIE slot. To reseat the card pull it out and put it back in to ensure a clean connection. Next make sure the video drivers are clean by uninstalling and use DDU to remove all old configs. Then download the newest version of yoiur video drivers.

What do I do when I didn't build the PC myself and feel very uncomfortable on opening the case? I'd be more than happy to do this if I wasn't so concerned about this issue 🙁

You need to change your refresh rate in windows, do the following:

On Windows 10, head to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties. Click the “Monitor” tab, choose your monitor’s advertised refresh rate from the “Screen Refresh Rate” list, and click “OK”.

This worked for me when i had the same problem.

Do all but the reseating of the video card if you dont want to open the case.
