2 Part Question....Best card for CPU and for 720p display....So many choices!

It's time for a GPU Upgrade and I wanted some insight into what the forum thinks.....

My computer:
Phenom IIx4 955 (3.2ghz can get to 3.8 stable)
Gtx 460
Windows 7
6gb Ram (Used to be 8, but dead ram slot)

Question #1:
What is the current card available that my cpu can handle with out going into the dreaded bottleneck scenario (I know there are a ton of variables etc) but just wanted a few to choose from.....

I game on a 720p 32'' LCD Vizio Tv and it looks fine to me.....So whats the lower end that will still allow me to game with decent graphics.....

I guess I'm trying to get the High End of what my CPU can handle and the Low End of 720p card. At this point anything will be a stepup from a gtx 460

I've been looking at Gtx 750 ti, AMD R9 280x and 270x......

I think GTX 960 might be a good upgrade for you. It performs well at 1080p so 720p will be easy. If cost is a factor then GTX 750 Ti is a good alternative. Check power supply requirements for the card you choose.

I guess I didn't list my power supply, but it's a Cooler Master Silent Pro 600 watt.....So I should be good! How does the gtx 960 compare to the Amd R9 280/270x?

GTX 960 is on the same tier as a 280 so they are close in performance. It comes down to what you like more, AMD or Nvidia. Your power supply should be able to handle either one easily.
