2 sticks or 4?

I have a socket 939 3000+ with 2x512 sticks of memory. I plan on upgrading to a dual core cpu soon and adding more memory. I'll be buying a cheap mobo for my wife to use my processor and crap. My question is, is it better performance wise, for my pc, to add another 2x512 and get some el-cheapo ram for hers, or give her my ram and get 2x1024 for mine? I don't care about extra power draw as the psu is getting the boot also. I just want better performance for gaming and burning dvd's and stuff.

Better to get the 2x1024MB sticks. A lot of AMD mobo's don't really like 4 sticks, and will either drop the memory speed down to 333MHz, or will only allow 2T command rate(vs. 1T...much better for AMD). GL

Thanks for the info! My command rate is already 2T, I tried 1T but it didn't work (cheap Kingmax ram). Anyway, I needed to get better quality memory already so that will justify buying some Corsair 2x1024 or something. Actually, my boss just tried adding more ram to his FX-55 PC today and he said the same thing, it lowered his speeds to 333MHz.

Go for 2 sticks because more than cheap ram is dropped down to 2T. I have very nice RAM (the sig) and it runs at a whopping 333mhz and 2T... :x
