2 x 2 gb or 2+4 gb RAM

I have a 2 gb ddr3 ram 1333 mhz, if I get another 2 gb and run it in dual channel mode or if I buy a 4 gb and and make it a total RAM of 6 gb, which one will be better(especially for gaming)?

If you are running a 64 bit version of Windows 6GB of ran is better than 4GB.

Equal RAM stick sizes are always recommended.

Either 2 x 2GB, or 2 x 4GB, not 2 + 4.

Get the most, fastest RAM you can, that your motherboard supports. DDR3-1600 would be the best, pending your rig setup.

As Foscooter stated, having DUAL CHANNEL mode is more important for performance than more RAM. Always make sure you have equal amounts in your sticks of RAM. Make sure you have 2 by 2 or 4 by 4, etc.... to get the best performance.

Dual channel mode is better for performance, and it really depends on your game and if you have a 64bit OS as to whether more RAM or faster RAM is better. In general, if you're looking to upgrade, a 2 x 4GB kit is not very expensive until you reach above DDR3-1600. Then you can get the best of both worlds.

actually I'm on a tight budget now, so can't get 2 x 4 gb, most games these days require at least 6 gb of ram, so if I use 2 x 2 gb in dual channel mode, will those games run? :/

That depends on the game, but if it does run, it will have inferior performance if you don't have enough RAM.
