The need for faster ram does make it more expensive than the previous setup.
The primary differences here are a hyper-threaded dual core(pentium) vs a quad core(2200g) - more physical cores are generally preferred over ones with extra threads - and the ram requirements. Ryzen needs faster ram to get the most out of it, thus adding to overall cost. Intel setups aren't nearly as picky with ram, and thus you may save a little more going with cheaper sticks.
