Hello Folks,

I just need a quick sanity check. Can you check out the build below and let me know if these components should work together? If you have any suggestions\changes, please offer those as well. This is a PC that I am building for my mom and she is a very basic user. I plan to install Windows XP home. She browses the Internet and uses MS Word. I am trying to keep the cost at or near $200.

Many thanks

looks good to me. you do have a copy of Windows XP, right? you also have a keyboard, mouse, monitor and cd/dvd drive? and if you can do so, go for the better processor for 20 bucks more.

if your mom is ONLY going to do internet and MS word, the first prossesor is perfect.
you also need a cd/dvd drive. so you can either buy the more powerful prosessor, or buy the e1200 and cd/dvd drive for the same price.

Looks good, mind you any PC that costs $200 and actually works looks good.
One thought though, do you have a spare copy of XP home? If not $279 will get you a new dell with better specs (faster proc, 2Gb memory, 320Gb Hdd, DVD drive) a copy of vista basic, keyboard 'n' mouse and a years warranty.
