I have never built a computer before but I get the jest of it. I have seen several posts about this before but they are from 2014 or so. I use 3Ds Max, Maya, Storyboard Pro, Harmony, the Adobe Suite, Blender, and Gimp. The computer I have right now can barely handle rendering a video out of Storyboard Pro and I am about to start using 3Ds Max and Maya a lot so I want to use the 2g that I have saved up to go towards a new workstation. Help Me Please.

I built a pretty decent workstation for school. I do motion graphic design. I would suggest getting atleast a 6+ core cpu if not higher and as many graphics cards as the software can support. I use Cinema 4D using Octance Render and x2 980 Ti's and my render times are very effecient depending on shadows/reflections etc. you will want atleast 32gb ram and plenty of SSD storage. With a 2k budget you will have to squeeze to get a decent workstation that will have quick render times and easy workflow. More cores (cpu) and plenty of gpu power + RAM - remember to keep your software on seperate drives than your assets and render to a seperate drive as well. it will help. SSD! hope this helps, i am only a student and this is what i have learned thus far in building my own workstation.

Yeah I am also a student trying to get an Animation/Media Arts degree. I don't know much about computers so that is holding me back that is why I posted this here. I really appreciate the help man.

Just system stuff. I can purchase Monitors later I have two for know that are decent. I would love to have three but I don't know for sure yet.

i suggest getting an SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 500GB would be a nice choice ) for ur main drive (OS, important Apps and so on) and a HDD preferably a Western Digital Caviar Red/Black 5TB+ for your backup and finished work.
