I just built this machine a couple months ago and it went well: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/igendreau/saved/QRv2FT

Now I need to build a system for rendering 3D, specifically V-Ray for Sketchup. I've got roughly a $2000 budget (just the computer, no monitor or peripherals), and looking for recommendations. In particular, I'd love to hear your recommendations on processor and graphics card setup. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I would recommend the K4200, but the GTX 980 is not only cheaper, but also has a lot more power behind it. Overclock as you please. Add a second GTX 980 in SLI if you need more graphics muscle.
