2011 or 1155

Hello !

I know this question might be asked before, but i just want to know which motheboards are future-proof i mean last longer the 2011 or 1155 ?

then i won't need to change it and change just the cpu and mostly the gpu
i think it will cost less than change the mobo,cpu and gpu isn't it ?

i'm gonna use the pc for mostly gaming and i know that the i5 3570k is the best choice now
but what about future games they may require an i7 or 4+ core cpu

i am not sure what the new intel cpus sockets will be but it depends on what the cpu is required!but if you play only games i7 will give you no more than i5!so you dont really need i7 or even LGA 2011 cpus for gaming!i7 is very good at games but you need to use it for video rendering or something like that to use the 100% of it!
no game requires i7 but many (require) i5!i mean its very suitable!i5 3570k is a beast at games so dont change it!

i mean in the past some games don't even use more than 2 cores

if your only gaming then a 1155 i5 is fine
gaming with light rendering 1155 i5 or i7 ether will work, the heavier the load the more you will wont to move to the i7
full rendering/ cad / workstation then go with a 2011 i5 or i7, once again the heavier the load the more you will wont to move to the i7

no man i5 3570k is just fine!if you offer the money for the i7 go for the i7 only if you use it for a bit of rendering or its a waste!
but in my opinion you wont need anything more than i5 3570k!

but at the time of the upgrde i will need the change the mobo too so if have an 2011 now i will be able to uprade to an 3970k later when it's cheaper without changing the mobo

Intel changes CPU sockets like crazy. So far the most "future" proof platform is AMD. AM2/AM3 been around for long time...AM2 socket was officially introduced on May 23, 2006 and is still compatible with todays CPUs..not fully but it works. Anyway I would wait for now and wait for intels new platform.

The best advice I can give is to buy mid range board and upgrade the platform more often. I love to play with the hardware so I upgrade my platform every 2 years and my VGA every year or less depends on the deal I get...love free games deals it is so worth it.

Anyway the most performance boost, in games, you get is from upgrading your VGA not you CPU. If you like the snappy OS without question get SSD.

If you want to build the most future proof system start with a case you love, top of the line PSU with >750W. Alone these two components stay with you for the long long time. My 1000W Antek is already 6 years old and even though I don't need so many watts I rather have my PSU workload to by minimal( less heat, less noise, longer life).

well games dont really need six core so if you want future proof machine go for the i7!but in games there will be no difference at all!in some games may benchmark less i think!3930k make me think of a small workstation!if you are planning to build something like that with a six core go for the LGA 2011!

1 last thing which components exept the cpu need a mobo upgrade did the gpu do ?

because i think that 32go max memory @ 2133Mhz is enough and a decent HDD and SDD can be used for a long time and you can easily add others if needed and a 800W will be enough even for cf /sli ,stop me if i am wrong.

Of course! I started with a HD 6850 and ~4 months ago I upgraded to the GTX 660 without changing anything else

But the 2011 is more expensive and i think i'm gonna take the 1155 and when a cpu upgrade will be needed i will take a 2011 and a 3930K it will be cheaper or maybe a better choice than the 2011

i think the best choice is to get i5 3570k and 7970 and add another one later, change the gpu more often than the cpu
and at the time of a mobo upgrade even the 2011 will be useless since the next gen intel will mostly have a different socket.
what do you think ?

Not changing sockets is a double edged sword, for instance with AMD they try to cram new instruction sets into old sockets and it causes disasters and glitches but the new sockets are totally OK with the new AVX/SSE Intel stuff.

It's really not just the CPU, X79 provides 48 PCIe lanes and Z77 provides 16, especially with OP's plan to CF 7970, don't be suprised if half your USB or SATA ports just cut out or take a speed nosedive after you put that card in because everything has to share a measly 16 lanes, whereas X79 has 40+8 meaning 40 for GPU(Enabling native x16/x16/x8) and 8 for external controllers(USB/SATA).

Also X79 will be used for Ivy Bridge-E, LGA1155 is done, Haswell is changing to LGA1150. X79 actually has a longer life left than 1155.

i know that the 2011 is more "future proof" than 1155
but do you think this mobo differences are noticeable and really efficient in gaming ?
and when i will upgrade i will change the mobo to the next gen sockets mostly ( the one after haswell )

The i5 is better. Although if I were to upgrade I would choose a FX-8350 because the difference in performance is not big enough to justify a motherboard upgrade as well.
