2015 Harley Davidson ignition switch replacement

i bought a used 2015 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 but it didn't come with its key. i called a dealer in my city and they said they had to switch out the ignition switch and that it had to be "reprogrammed" to work. I also asked about just getting a replacement key which is about $30 but I was told the same thing about reprogramming the ignition switch. can i just replace the ignition switch with a similar one from another model/year or use a universal one from ebay?

Such a new vehicle having a missing key makes us question its origin. Not only that clearly there is some computer related issue that the dealer would need to correct to get it to work.
