Currently both cards are on sale and I'm looking into building right now but I'm sort of tied between the two cards. The 2070 Super is available for $600 (CAD) GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER WINDFORCE OC, and the 5700xt is $550 (CAD) GIGABYTE Radeon RX 5700 XT GAMING OC 8G. I plan on also buying the AOC CQ27G1 monitor which has freesync, however I'm not sure how the 2070 super will perform with it since it's not technically "supported", but freesync monitors apparently work anyways without nvidia's "validation". I believe both cards are roughly the same but I'm a bit weary of the freesync compatibility, and if the 2070 is worth the extra $50. Thanks

You should check this out:

The card should work with freesync monitors - just need to make some changes in Nvidia Control Panel.

You are correct that the 2 cards are roughly similar in performance - less than 10%. Now it just comes down to which you value more, the 2070 Super's small performance edge or the RX 5700XT's value.
