2080 low frames

Just built a new PC which is a major upgrade from my old one, i'm enjoying it except the fact my 2080 is getting about 50% the performance it should be. On games like PUBG or BO4 Blackout im averaging 80-90 fps in ultra, all the benchmarks i've seen suggest I should be getting double that.

My pc specs are: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/vHCTNQ

Any help is greatly appreciated as this is extremely frustrating

I installed windows via a USB sitck. GPU and cpu temps look normal, GPU usage was 100% cpu around 85% although only checked these by looking at the task manager graph after tabbing out. Is that good enough?

What resolution are you playing at?

Only reason I ask is because I play @4k with a 2080ti and get 80-90 so if you were at 4k it'd make sense.

BO4 and PUBG are pretty horribly optimized games so they are kind of tough to base a gpu performance off of I feel like. With a 1080 I could barely play BO4 at all.

in NVIDIA Control panel did you set the profile for BO4 power management? Set it to "Prefer Maximum Performance", not "Optimal". That's been the culprit for me a bunch of times. Also, make sure no frame rate limiters are on, etc.

GPU usage is 50%
CPU usage is 60% roughly
GPU temp is around 70
CPU is around 50

These seem very odd numbers..

Those numbers are normal for gaming. That's what they should be.

Are your resolution scales somehow cranked up to like 200% or something?

Ah it somehow was. My gpu usage is now around 50%

Yeah so change the scale and then go and make sure your nvidia control panel profile says prefer maximum performance and you should be good to go. it'll crank ur gpu speed up to max clock. Being at 50% now tells me it's not on that power mode.

Edit: If that does fix your problem make sure to not set "prefer maximum performance" on the global tab of the control panel. Set it individually for each game.

Reason being (even though it is a pain in the a**) if you set it globaly whenever you start an app such as chrome or anything like that your gpu will go to max clock speed. It's more wear and tear on it and the RTX cards run pretty warm so you'll start hearing fan action when your watching your favorite po**hub video.

Just set it for each game.

As in power management mode? thats already on max performance. Also I had that setting down for most of the time, think i changed it accidentally whilst messing with in game settings.

Yeah, In Nvidia Control Panel you can set it globally or per application. Are your frame rates way higher now?

Yes, just changed something and now its about 50-60% GPU and 60-70% CPU

Um they're back to what they were before the stupid render scale changed to 200%. I'm at about 100fps roughly

Only other thing I can think of is if you go to windows power management and select the "High performance" plan. That'll force your cpu to run at max clock speed. Aside from that or a frame limiter I'm not sure. At 1080p you should be at higher framerates. Maybe check the blackops forums to see if anyone else has similar issues.

I have changed that as well sadly. I've spoke to another 2080 owner and he said he has similar problems. Maybe is just a driver issue?

Could very well be. RTX cards are still very new. Do you have a founders edition? I've heard people have been reporting issues with the FE cards.

I have the gigabyte gaming OC. My fps has incresed a bit, i'm now getting 100fps which is about 10% better. I guess i'll just have to wait until the new drivers come out and see if that helps. My GPU does score 9544 in timespy however which seems high.

Test out some other games and see if they are in check. Like I said before I have gotten extremely mixed results with BO4.
