Hello, I need some advice from the pros. I was going to do a full rebuild once the 4090s came out but I've talked myself into a more sound financial decision :) My current rig is only like 3 years old I hate to dumpster it already.

Right now Ive got an i9-9900, 16gb of ram, MPG Z390 motherboard and an 850watt PSU. Any issue with that setup supporting a 3080ti? Any bottlenecking I should worry about or would those all synergize well?

Id be upgrading from a basic 2080... do you think the 3080ti would worth the price of that upgrade? Looks like they're in the $800-$900 range right now

My primary goal is 4k gaming at very high settings at the highest FPS feasible.

Also hypothetical question... would my current setup even properly support a 4090? If so... would it be more bang for the buck to bypass the 3080ti and just go for that?

Any thoughts appreciated, ty!!

Wait till the 4090s come out, the upgrade you plan on making is worth it, but in most cases, your cpu will bottleneck the 3080ti, and your current setup would barely support a 4090, and bottleneck it pretty heavily.

Its unlikely your psu will be adequate for a 4090 and recommended you upgrade it. It is questionable if it will be adequate for a 3080Ti without knowing the exact psu.

SERIOUSLY?? MORE bad news for NVIDIA's 40 Series... - YouTube

Good info, thanks fellas.

Its unlikely your psu will be adequate for a 4090 and recommended you upgrade it. It is questionable if it will be adequate for a 3080Ti without knowing the exact psu.

For reference the exact PSU is an EVGA 850 BQ 80+ Bronze.

Edit - from what Im reading those are kinda low end. Might be worth upgrading.
