This is a multi tiered question but mainly asking for my monitor choice. Future proofing my build (4-5 year target) and I am in the market for a new monitor to pair nicely. Currently using a BenQ XL2420T TN panel and while the response time is great the image quality and overall viewing experience leads much to be desired. I am looking to do a substantial upgrade to both my PC and my monitor. For my PC I will be upgrading to a 1080 Ti FTW3 (or potentially Asus Strix version due to cooling and noise profile), an Intel i7 7800X, a Z299 motherboard, and 3000MHz (or faster) DDR4 memory. I was hoping to match this with a 21:9 120Hz+, 3440x1440p G-Sync monitor but I'm starting to believe they don't exist. Always seems to be a trade off between a higher refresh rate at 1080p, or 60Hz for 1440p. I found one at 100 Hz but overclocked which I have concerns will decrease the lifespan of the monitor as well as being skeptical that a 40Hz jump (if able to get a full overclock) would be that noticeable over 60. Any advice on the build or otherwise is greatly appreciated.

I'm at an APO AP address so whatever I get I have to live with unless the manufacturer covers shipping costs for defective product. I'm dreading purchasing something and it having dead pixels or BLB issues since shipping it back is going to run the cost up significantly on an already over $1000 monitor. After doing a little more research both Asus and Acer have 35 series 21:9 144Hz-200Hz monitors expected to come out Q4 next year but with a $2,000 price tag. I'll probably end up doing a 27" until the costs come down on the 21:9 monitors. It truly is an immersive experience if you've never gamed on one. I did at Blizzcon this year and it was like the first time trying VR for me. Makes you wonder why you weren't playing like that the whole time. In Q1 2018 there are more 27 inch monitors expected to come out https://www.anandtech.com/show/11701/acer-and-asus-delay-their-4k-144-hz-gsync-hdr-displays-to-2018 although even with a 1080 Ti 4k performance, HDR, maxed settings, etc. probably won't see 60 fps.
