212 Evo am4 Update Kit Issues

I just purchased a Ryzen 5 2600x and an ASUS Strix x470-f motherboard and I decided to keep my 212 evo, so I purchased the update kit for am4 boards. Here is the link update kit. The kit came with 4 standoffs and the x bracket for mounting the cooler. When I removed the brackets that came on the motherboard and went to install the standoffs, using the backplate that came with the mobo, after putting the standoffs in and tightening them down, the backplate is quite loose because of how the standoffs screw in. Am I doing something wrong? Did I get the wrong kit or will this one not work? I'd love any suggestions, advice, videos, etc because I'm having trouble finding info about this particular motherboard with the update kit.

Having a little hard time envisioning the situation exactly....but is it something that a few washers might take care of?

After tightening the cooler, the excess slack will be taken up.

You have to use the standoff that came with the cooler. I just installed this very same cooler on the same exact CPU 2 days ago. The backing plate should be tight on the mobo.
