24" 1440p monitor vs 4k 55" TV

out of curiosity, which would look better, a 1440p 24 inch monitor, or a 4k 55 inch TV?

Well the 24" will have a higher PPI. If viewed from the same distance. The 24" 1440P will appear sharper.

Color quality would depend on the individual panels. There are some horrible looking 4K TVs and monitors. Good looking ones too. A 24" 1440P monitor with a good IPS panel will cost less than a 55" 4K TV with a good panel.

A 4K 55" TV will look better, but will have higher latencies not suited for intense gaming, and use more electricity.

For close range use/non theatrical use, get the monitor.
