Morning folks,

Decided to finally upgrade my old 21" monitor to something of a bit more value and having a real struggle picking out something worthwhile for around the £200. I don't play anything competitively, mostly due to ineptness but also due to the games I generally play such as D3, various other Blizzard games and the odd FPS.

My initial, albeit very uneducated conclusions are that;

- At 1080 27" can look a bit pixelated and therefore 24" would be a visually better experience and also allow me to have a slightly better quality monitor for the same price? I am happy to get a 27" if the quality is going to be all but negligible compared to a similar 24".

- 1440p monitors are nice, but still pricey and I would very much struggle to run anything at decent FPS on a GTX960 considering it pushes the GTX970's!

- IPS panels are considered to give the greatest clarity, but generally have a slightly larger MS time, although is the difference between a 1MS and 3-4MS monitor going to have any benefit for me?

As an added point, does anyone notice the flicker free tech on BenQ monitors they seem to push very heavily?

Cheers

Depends on wich country you live.
This is the best monitor you can buy atm for your budget. http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-RL2455HM-24-Inch-Console-Monitor/dp/B007HSKSMI

BenQ RL2455HM 24-Inch LED Console Gaming Monitor.
It has 1ms respondstime, 24 inch, 75hz and full HD.
MLG is using this monitor at their game competitions because its just the best gaming monitor you need.

If you tell me your country i can help you out better.:)
I bought a 1440p IPS display with 4 ms, 24 inch for 200 euro's in Holland (dell p2416D).

The Qnix revolution ii is a better 1440p monitor for $220 but is only available in korea. You can buy it with warenty, but the retour tickets most likely cost you a new monitor xD.

If you live in America the Acer...
I have a 22in**** samsung 1080p tv for my computer with all the bells and whistles I payed $200 for. I watch alot of movies so I wanted lean back mode, or standing mode when I'm moving around the room. I love it. Although when you have two programs open side by side on 22in its a bit small but very manageable. Dunno if that helps any thats just my experience

If you live in America the Acer G257HU smidpx 25-Inch screen is a great 1440p alternative, but it cost $260.

All of these support displayport 1.2 and 1.3 (same slot).
You are able to play games at a solid 60fps with these monitors at 1440p

the BenQ 24" Gaming Monitor XL2411Z is a great 1080p monitor with 3D!!!
It has 1ms and is probably the best deal you can get for a 3D display
untfortunately it icost $70 above your budget. ($270)

No it's only in 24 inch
Its a 1080p screen. 27 inch makes it blockery in my opinion. In fact, gaming on a 27 inch screen is unconfortable in my opinion since monitors are standing pretty close to your eye compared to tv's.

Is it worth spending the extra £70 on the BenQ 24" XL version then Max in your opinion? Higher refresh rate, 3D capabilities and a slightly more intuitive stand and height adjustment feature seem to be the obvious bonuses.

Cheers.

I haven't used a 27 @ 1080p but im planning to do it, because I'm suspecting that those "Blocky pixels" that people talk about due to the minor quantity of pixel per inch. Are for people with poor eyesight much pleassent to watch and less eye-fatigant bigger font's. and less detail, less effort for the eye 😀
