That's because every RAM speed over 1600 is OC'd. When you plug in the RAM you have to activate (if it doesn't on its own) XMP mode which is the auto OC function for RAM.

Not quite that simple. It defaults to a lower speed 1333 or 1600 depending on your hardware.
My memory was not stable with XMP profile I had to manually set the timings and speed and up the voltage to get it 100% stable.
This was with a newer Z97 board and a OC on the processor.
You might also need to OC the processor and manually adjust BIOS settings.
Their no guarantee you will get it stable at 2400 but avoid the memory that needs 1.65 volts because it gives you no room to...
