240w PSU with a GTX 750TI

Ok so I have an old computer that I'm going to upgrade to the max w/o replacing the motherboard or case. I'm thinking about buying a GTX 750 TI for it.

Unfortunately, I noticed that it "recommends" a 450w psu. Will it work with my 240w psu?

8GB DDR3 RAM
600GB Hard drive
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 (LGA775)
(HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF with Intel Q43/Q45 Graphics)

I believe these are just estimates. My 970 is said to require 500W, however I've ran it on a 430W in the same system and it was fine.

According to Nvidia the 750ti needs minimum 300W. To be safe I would say to upgrade to the PSU (if you can), but who knows maybe it will work.t

The power spec listed on Nvidia is the wattage used by all the components together, you can see what the card requires separately above. Maybe calculate your entire system, then add the 60W for the 750ti.

Forgot to mention: The system you are planning to upgrade will be very hard as its case is custom and fitting a card like that will not work (bracket size and ~clearance issues~) unless you change the case or completely remove it all. Maybe look into what other people have done.

It should work, just buy one that doesn't require external power and make sure your motherboard can supply 75W on the PCI-E. There are some of those pre-built PC's that can't supply 75W to the PCI-E.
