He wants to do 3D editing, rendering, video editing and rendering, all that stuff, and also wants to be able to play games at a playable framerate.

Big question "Do ISV Certifications matter?" If so, Precision M3800.

15.6" 3200x1800 IGZO Touchscreen, i7 4712HQ Quad core, 16gb DDR3 1600, Nvidia Quadro K1100M with 2gb GDDR5, 512gb Solid state drive(optional spinning HDD available too), $2500. I have one and I love it. I use it as a workstation primarily, but secondary for gaming, mostly Diablo 3
