The 7800X3D is the best gaming CPU currently available, price to performance, and AMD has promised 2 generations on AM5, whereas Intel's current socket is a dead end. Intel isn't the way to go right now.

You can swap the 4080 for a 7900 XTX if you prefer AMD to Nvidia.

The above build is fine, but replace the 2 tb and 500gb SSDs with a single 4TB WD SN850X. Better drive, more space, free M. 2 slot if you need more storage later. No one should be buying a 500GB SSD if they have budget for better, half a TB doesn't go far these days.

You've heard wrong. Both platforms have their odd little issues, up sides and down, as they always have. There's no clear cut winner there, but at the moment the 7800X3D is the obvious choice when building from scratch for gaming, if budget will allow.

Never heard of any issues using AMD EXPO RAM. The issues I've seen are from using XMP and RAM faster than 6,000MTs....and most of these issues have been resolved, but stick with EXPO and you can't go wrong.

Honestly any generation from Intel is dead in 12 months. If you were to buy a 14th gen Intel right now in the beginning of 2025 it will be a dead generation.

Most people don't upgrade often enough for 2 more years of support to matter.

For the drives I would always put the OS and programs on one drive thus the 500GB and games on another drive.

If your play a lot of games off steam you can reinstall windows if needed without having to download all the games again.

I have also seen people get micro stuttering from having the games and OS on one drive.

Everything I listed was for a reason.

Easy just change the processor and motherboard. Even saves a bit of money.
I prefer a separate drive for the operating system and programs thus the 500 GB and 2TB drives.
500GB for the OS and programs and the 2TB for games.

Forget amazon. Just find a local microcenter and get a ram, cpu and mobo combo. MC is the way to go.
