I just bought an 2k monitor and i want to see some movies in 2k. I downloaded the movies but cant find an media player to play 2k resolution. I tried VLC Media Player but it runs in 1080p.

Solution
The videos are not 1080... They are 4k,i said that
First you said this "I downloaded the movies but cant find an media player to play 2k resolution. "
Later you changed it and said videos are 4k.

Now, regardless if videos are 2k or 4k, players will run those videos in your monitor's native resolution (in your case it's 2k), however original resolution of those videos will remain original (your monitor doesn't magically add more pixels to those videos).

So, I really don't see what's the issue here.

All modern video players support 1440p and even bigger resolutions, however this doesn't mean that if video was shot in 1080p, you will magically have 1440p just because your monitor supports this resolition. Videos shot in 1440p are very rare. Most popular resolutions are 720p, 1080p and 4k.
