I am getting a new cpu i got a Gigabyte GA7VAX motherboared and 512 kingston 333 which would be better for me? 2600+ thourobred B or a barton 2500+. I'M DEFINETLY GONNA OVERCLOCK. oh i got 350 watt power and the copperx cpu fan which i still can return if it not good inuf(what you think?).

ALWAYS AIM LOW SO YOU CAN'T BE DISSAPOINTED

Go for the 2500+. Here are some benchmarks.

Both the Barton XP2500+ and the Tbred B XP2600+ run a 166 Mhz (333) FSB. An early XP2600+ may have run 133 Mhz but no longer.

The XP2500+ is stock clocked at 1.81 Ghz while the XP2600+ runs at 2.08 Ghz and has the highest clock speed of all the AMD processor to date.

With the higher default clock I think the XP2600+ is a better choice. You are guaranteed the higher factory speed and according to the CPU database at Overclockers.com the Tbred B XP2600+ overclocks better, average - 2386 Mhz, than the XP2500+, average overclock - 2293 Mhz.

The FSB 266 version of the XP2600+ clocks at 2133mhz while the FSB 333 version clocks at 2083mhz.

Given that these CPU's are unlocked you'll be able to raise your FSB to 333 or 400 (motherboard supporting) so in my opinion the FSB 266 version is the better chip.

Also the same applies to the Barton chips but I don't think they'll overclock as well due to the much larger number of transistors they contain and therefore increased risk of failing.

For the extra cache to make up the shortfall of 250MHZ or so is really application specific and an indication is shown in the lower PR rating.

I would buy the XP2500+ only if it was cheaper than the XP2600+
