I'm thinking of getting a new 27" monitor for gaming and I'm having trouble deciding which features to get. I'm currently running a 21" monitor (60hz) on a 970GTX and I'd like to upgrade to something larger with QHD. My graphics card probably wont be able to get up to 144 fps but I'm thinking of getting it for future proofing.

I've decided on a 27" at 144hz but cannot decide if it's worth getting g-sync or not for an extra £75-100. People say its smoother but will I notice that much difference at 144hz?

Also what are peoples thoughts on 24" vs 27" for gaming (or does it not really matter that much)?

I'd get that Dell. Price is lower cuz it is a TN panel but it is supposed to look awesome regardless, and it is newer than the others listed. I highly suggest getting it, especially if you know you will stay in the G-Sync universe. You won't have regrets if you do...but getting less...you will.
The best thing you can do is go for a high refresh rate monitor for gaming. (changed my gaming life forever 😛)
I cant say anything for g-sync as i have never tried it..
as for the size, i guess its really down to personal preferences. i have a 24" and i think its the sweetspot for gaming. but then again it depends on what you are gonna play.
In my experience 27" is a bit too big bcause depending on how close you are sitting to the monitor you constantly have to move your head instead of your eyes when glancing from one side to the other. (while gaming you do this constantly)

I used to have a 2ms TN panel that topped at 60fps. It was fast but had slowness in a way that even Vsync couldn't fix. Once I went to G-Sync 165Hz I have been in awe. I never feel any lag or hindrance. I think G-Sync is worth it. I bought my PG279Q with the intention of keeping it for 5yrs. GPU upgrades will be needed but the panel is just awesome. On the old monitor V-Sync helped but still not the same as G-sync. I'm sure FreeSync is great too. If you are going to keep the 970 then I'm not sure G-sync is best, but if you will upgrade the GPU then go G-sync. My experience has been nothing but tremendous.

At first I didn't like 27", coming from 24". But because my new desk has more depth I can push it back more and enjoy it more. If you will sit really close then 24" is absolutely suitable. It's just at 24" there aren't many G-sync monitors at 1440p or higher refresh rate.

if you're expecting, your framerate to be up and down. and a 144hz 1140p on a 970 that's prettying much a given. then I would say yes its worth it. just keeps your monitor timing same as the Video card so it keeps it looking smooth. it wont make the FPS any better it will just appear smooth to the eye

Hi guys, thanks for your answers. So it looks like the general consensus so far is that it might be worth it if I have the extra money, especially if I upgrade my graphics card in the future to something more powerful.

In regards to the Dell S2716DG it seems to be around £500 (~$650) which is close to the Acer price of £530 but a lot less than the Asus (£590)

The other option is a non g-sync AOC for £100 less:

My plan was to wait until the glorious national holiday that is amazon prime day (next Tuesday) to see if any of them are reduced. Would you recommend any of these screens over the others?
