Either in code, silkscreened onto a PCB, or even directly onto a chip.

Hidden messages are found in poems and books.

A closer look at photographs can be revealing when one looks close enough.

I have printed my initials and the date behind walls that I built, on rocks under concrete, inside things I repaired, etc.. And other places.

Even a time capsule or two many, many years past.

And I have found where others did much the same thing....

Google "Kilroy was here".

I will guess that the letters in the "worm" segments are the first and last initials of the designers.

Just another form of graffiti. Graffiti is centuries old and found in many places.

As for the "Why" - likely just something built into human nature.

Simply enjoy the surprises and mystery of it all.

Beyond that, I will defer to those who have studied and worked with the behavorial sciences.
