I really like this monitor, it's so cool. I previously had a 17" ViewSonic LCD and no way can that compare to this. It's massive, 27" is like I'm going blind, I need to move the seat back a meter to adjust, lol. It's better as anyone who needs glasses, this monitor should do them a favour. I'll never need to wear mine again.

I tried using my PS2, couldn't get the speakers working so I split the 2 audio phono's from the cable and connected them with a phono - mini-jack converter to my line in on my PC and had no problems getting sound. You plug in the video phono and select the mode with the monitor and it works straight away, I chose composite to get it to work instead of component. The graphics were quite cool for a PS2 game, you can the detail isn't the best but it's good enough, just like the TV I was using but with more color.

Tried a few HD 1080p & 720p movies, they both view perfectly on the monitor, you can see 1080p is very crisp.

Devil May Cry 4 looked very crisp on the monitor.

I heard that a HDMI cable wouldn't make a difference as to using a DVI cable, so I'd like to confirm if it's a waste of money for a HDMI cable.

Are there any professional tests I could do with the monitor? Thanks for the good advice on the forum to help me a pick a monitor, I had to choose the 2709W over the 2408WFP. :) Can't complain to be honest...

HDMI won't give you any benefits over DVI - there wouldn't be any point to switching.

Sounds like an amazing monitor though. If you want to run some tests, there are some good LCD calibration and test images here.

I'm considering this monitor as well, but am concerned by reviews that show it has a fairly high input lag. Do you notice this at all?

going from a 17'' to a 27 must be just awesome ^^

I have one question about this thread though....... WHERE are the pictures !!?!?!? Also, how much was it? im' just guessing $800 range

congrats though. I got a E248WFP yesterday, its huge. Got it for $335 off ebay brand new ! i've heard its not a great monitor for gaming but my wife just surfs, watches some videos and does some word and excel... so for her its great.

cjl: I tried the test page you gave me and my results are below, lol. I feel like such a n00b...

Winly: I couldn't find any dead pixels on the monitor :) Thank god! Would be pissed off to have to complain and send it back! 🙁

mc959: I can't notice any lag on this monitor, the only lag I get is from my computer, not the monitor. :) The great thing about this monitor is the amount of inputs, it's quite large to be honest, I didn't expect the 2709W to be this big. I'm not complaining, HD looks wicked on the monitor and the games I tried look crisp, shame about the camera of my phone, doesn't show how crisp the game looks.

itadakimasu: The monitor costed me £445, it's alot of cash for me but I really wanted a big monitor. The reason I the 2709W was the inputs and the extra 3" over the 2408 as I like to watch alot of movies 😛 I'm sure your wife will be happy, hopefully she won't scratch the screen! lol, I hate it when friends and family are in my room and touch the screen when they are trying to point at something, I got a bamboo stick ready for them this time! 😛 No joking either, one touch *smash*

A few questions!
So could a monitor like this make you blind if your always looking at the screen arm length away? I'm getting well paranoid, lol.

My resolution only goes to 1024 x 768 now, I have a HD4850 which is supposed to handle 1920x1200 and this monitor is supposed to handle 1920x1200, how do I get this resolution? Also in the Assassins Creed game I can't get the right resolution so their were black bars. 🙁 I'm thinking if I can get the 1920x1200 option available it will work. I updated all the drivers so I don't know why it isn't here.

If I'm playing PS2, would it damage the monitor after a certain while? It must be the same as using a PC.

If there are black borders (for example PS2 always leaves a little border) will the color staying black for certain lengths of time damage the monitor?

Well, I hope I made sense and these results mean something, I couldn't do the last 2 tests, mind going crazy, enjoy the pics! :)

Contrast Test
Colors red & turqoise last 2 blocks on the right are quite hard to distinguish if their is a line inbetween them or they are connected together but every other color is perfect.
Clock&Phase
I think the guy on the website forgot to put an image of what it looks like, I could see all the patterns and lines perfectly, there wouldn't be a need to set focus.
Sharpness Test
Didn't have much luck with this test, maybe because the monitor is so big.
Gamma Calibration
Good
Black & White Test
Spot on
Gradient Test
Spot on
Inversion (Pixel-Walk)
Does flicker when you move the image left and right
Response Time
I was getting 0-2% but didn't really understand the test well, all I know I didn't have blue in any of the pink boxes :)
Viewing Angle
You can view the angle of the monitor from every angle without the pictures colors detieriating

Pictures
They are done with my phone so they are kind of crappy quality.

The monitor at an angle so you can see the computer case aswell, the case is a Antec P182 and is fairly big

Rambo IV 1080p

Assassins Creed (Couldn't get the game into full screen)

Devil May Cry 4

Call of Duty 4

Here are some pics of Tekken 5 using the PS2 with the monitor

Managed to get 19200x1200, works flawlessly with Devil May Cry 4 :)

Weird that since I updated the ATI drivers for the 4850, I can't adjust the fan setting via the XML file anymore 🙁

Ok, I'm a big idiot lol, had to unlock it from the ATI Overdrive section and it loaded up the profile without a problem :)

I can't see any reason why it would...
