I noticed that new drivers were out today, 285.38 beta which is boasting 38% performance increase in BF3!? has anyone seen this or tried it in the BETA? Maybe it will not be as demanding as people think?

I merely commented on mousemonkey's comment of "who doesn't like a new driver to play with". I think it was a fair point, or do you think the people who lost their cards liked playing with 196.75?

Ive had zero issue with the driver, so there goes that logic out the window, looks like your extreme bias led you to be wrong..... you don't even own the card so who are you to comment? I want real life experience not your nonsense of what you think is right or wrong by reading some measly articles, at the end of the day that does not replace personal ownership and usage....

FYI I never had a GSOD issue, but I sure as hell don't deny it was an issue for many people. You nvidia fanboys are totally ridiculous denying this driver was a huge failure and killed thousands of people's cards just because it didn't happen to you.

sounds like in some cases it was a user end problem to me, I mean if your monitoring temps like you should when you initially installl a new driver then it would have never been a problem to begin with...

sure it was an issue but im Ive personally never had a problem so why would I believe that one bad driver makes them all bad? There are certainly several more complaints pertaining to drivers that are not user end issues on the AMD side, laugh at me one more time...

How many people do you think are "monitoring their temps"? Most people won't even know how to look at nv or amd control panels. These things are just supposed to work, and not kill cards.

What harm can come from people having more information? You seem hell-bent on covering up this issue, but what harm can come from people realising that nvidia has messed up badly in the past with rushed drivers?

No, I seem hell-bent on getting you out of here and exposing your silliness. How many times do I have to say that AMD/ATI screwed up drivers in the past, too? Yet you don't comment on that...

Links?

Where did I say that one driver makes them all bad? Why do you people keep putting words into my mouth?

I simply said that it's not wise to trust nvidia beta drivers based on what has happened in the past.

Gamer must know his hardware, else GTFO to consoles.

My friend had an 8800GT burned because its fan remained @ 30% all the time (a very common 8800GT issue) and Far Cry 2 fried it. So? Should've watched the temps. Now he does :)

No. So? Are you also gonna diss Intel? Their B2 P67 boards had decaying SATA slots. I won't go through the entire internets to find a hardware failure from ATI cards, but there must be. Besides, how many times do I need to tell you to forget about the past?

Forgetting the past is the reason we make mistakes in the present. Intel nor AMD are relevant to this thread.

I'm simply giving nvidia users the information they should know, in order that they make an informed choice. If this new driver kills cards, they knew it was a possibility. How is that bad?

Unless you would rather just bury information that doesn't suit your agenda, of course. 😗

Me? IDC about this info one way or another. I don't use beta drivers and IDC about BF3, I'm not into FPS much.

So, using your logic, one screw up means that all screwups in the future are over 9000x as likely. Grrrrreat.... using your logic, I might as well give up on all of the electronics brands I use 😀

Once again you are putting words into my mouth. Nvidia's drivers have been poor for a while as they try to squeeze more performance out of their cards.

If they have rushed a BF3 driver out, I'd be wary of rushing to install it. Nvidia drivers take what, 3-4 months normally in-between releases? It's pretty reasonable to suggest that people be careful with this one, imo. God I'd laugh my ass off if this one was a card killer too, I really would.

I don't expect it to be, but if I had an Nvidia card I'd be waiting personally.

ummm, no Eyefinity , tried to 'dis' Nv drivers as risky ..without pointing out that Ati , also bears risk .. his reponse to mousemonkey's 'who doesnt like a new driver to play with' ..was an obvious and blatant attempt to attack Nv , and possibly Mousemonkey..IF it had ANYTHING to do with the topic ..he SHOULD have born a warning that , updating ANY driver , could possibly bear risk ..but he chose to ignore 'informing people' of ATi risks ..this was either ignorance (perhaps he did not know) or obvious fanboyism .. and the only reason I am even posting here ...A) I was also interested to see if anyone had any info on the new drivers and BF3 ..and B) ..I just happened to be building a box out of the old spare parts crate ..and just happened to be installing the old 64MB ATi Radeon VIVO ..that just happens to show up in XP as a Radeon 7200 (with no VIVO ) (imagine the fun most people would have (granted it doesnt kill the card , unless you consider the card NOT actually working due to wrong driver being installed to be death, as someone said dont most people want to 'just put it in and just have it work') ..and I just happen to remember a day when the Fastest CPU in the World , would not work with the fastest Graphics card in the world ..(those companies just happened to be AMD and ATi at the time) ..I just happen to be bored enough to post ...

If anyone has evidence of ATI drivers killing cards I'd be happy to suggest in future ATI driver threads that it could happen again. From what I can see, ATI releases 3-4x more drivers per year than Nvidia yet somehow doesn't manage to kill cards with any of them. If I'm wrong, I'll apologise and agree that ATI drivers could possibly be harmful too.

I personally believe that Nvidia took risks in order to catch up in performance, and that ATI wouldn't take those risks.
