after ordering my new computer, i saw this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102706

at first, i thought they might have mismarked it, 512mb, 512bit, and frequencies slightly under that of a 2900xt for $165 ?!?!

i looked up a review at tweaktown

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1189/his_radeon_hd_2900_pro_512mb_early_test/index.html

and it performed better than the 8800gts 320, and almost as good as the 2900XT!

with the price of the 8800gts 512 still above $300, two of these 2900pros' in crossfire would be the same price, and still outperform the gts512(probably)

i think i might send back my 8800gt and order two of these for xfire

Yea, but if you might need a new PSU unless you have one powerful enough to run them in cross fire (That card is really power hungry) and so the price comes out the same as SLI'ing 2 gt's (Assuming you get a nice PSU that wont crap out on you, or burn you cards).

But than on the other hand, if you don't mind it being a tad slower than the gt, this thing is freken awesome for the price... Heck you can even get the 1gig version ( But I've read they are not too much better than the 512).

A good 760watt power supply should work fine. Then again that does depend on what else you run. If you are running 4 or 5 hard drives it makes a difference. You may also want to check and see what your motherboard recommends that you have for it. Different parts means different drain.

Don't even look at a 2900Pro. Go 3850 or 3870 if anything. You will regret it if you do. The power usage is unacceptable with the 2900 cards. I have a 2900XT so I'm speaking from experience. The 3850/70 cards are more refined and you will appreciate the UVD capabilities when you watch any video of any type. Don't get the PRO!

You think a Corsair 520W will be able to power a single 2900PRO?

im looking at doing a new cheap build for under 700 Dollars and this Cards fits the bill! was looking at the 3850 256mb but this cards tech specs equal/beat plus i know how to OC/Flash cards so there is a possiblity of 2900PRO becoming an XT!

Corsair hx520w PSU will handle ANY single GPU on the market. As long as you aren't having like 12 HDD's and a bunch of other things.

i am going to crossfire these babies

at $250 for the fist and $170 for the second

$410 and my p5w-dh 975 mobo should rock - its old but its cool with a x6800 clocked at 3.75ghz just under 400fsb

ya its old school but not so old!

you need a solid 25-30 amps on 12 for these cards

do not look at the watts - 520 seems low but corsair 520 has a high 12v rating

you should be fine as long as you do not have a quad core or alot of hard drives

wow im thinking about Cross firing these babies too. 2x 2900PRO 512mb/512mb bit bus for $329 that about as much as A SINGLE 8800GT goes for!

mmm Get a Q6600 and a X38 P5E and flash those cards to XT and you have on killer system that costs you about as much as a 8800Ultra!

I hope they dont lose stock on these.. this sounds like a great deal..
