I'm building my first gaming PC and was just wondering which one of these solutions would be best.
The 980Ti SLI is almost 2x the price of 295x2's.
Also, I've heard that AMD has quite bad drivers and Crossfire can be quite problematic.
I'm confused as which one to get, help would be appreciated!

Obviously the 980ti SLI is more powerful. You're talking about 2 $700 video cards vs 1 currently $700 video card. Honestly I'd buy one 980ti and get a second one later if need be. Even if you're gaming at 4k a single 980ti is more than adequate. Idk if you're an attention seeker or what, but obviously a 980ti will play any game at 4k perfectly. This reminds me of when people used to post what's better 4 way gtx780 SLI or 2 Titan blacks bla bla bla. If you're even considering buying that kind of hardware you should know what you're talking about. If you honestly have to ask the question you posted buy a nice gtx970 for $350 and call it a day.

Good call. 1440p is where it's at right now. I don't think 4K will ever be worth it over 1440p, most people's eye's can't tell the difference On top of that there are 144Hz monitors with G-Sync at 1440p.

Get one 980Ti and if you don't have one yet, spend the money for the second card on a G-Sync monitor. I like the Acer IPS unit but the ROG swift and BenQs are fine too.

Agreeing with you up to the point about the 980 wrecking a R9 295. Maybe we are just looking at different benchmark charts. The benchmark im looking at clearly shows AMD R9 295 b slapping the Nvidia card.. AMD does have driver issues but with the lastest catalyst driver there has been a vast improvement in stability. The 980 ti is a good card but even in the higher resthe R9 still comes out ahead of the Ti.

Some benchmarks have been released for the AMD Fury X, and it seems to be stronger than the 980Ti and Titan X, but not by a lot.

Even though it is stronger, I still might go with the 980Ti, for more vram and better driver support.

They're still beasts though, so in the end they will still both dominate.

It depends on what games you play I would reccomend you get the GTX 980ti single but if you're playing games like witcher 3 on ultra 1080p or 1440 and 4k on lower settings than I suggest you go for the sli
Plus if you get NVIDIA you can either get witcher 3 or batman arkarm knight if you go for 295x2 you can get AMD gold reward and probably get games like alien isolation and star citizen so yeah to me I get the GPU for that game I want but if you play games like bfh go with stuff like r9 290 or gtx 970 they both can play them on ultra above 60fps but if you go for 1440p or high I suggest you sli the 970 or 290 :) hope it helps

Hi I personally own an R9 295x2 by XFX and I love it, but I have to keep in mind that it is two cards not one, most AAA titles you shouldn't have to worry about not being able to use both gpu's, but if you play a beta game like survarium for example, you would only use one of the two gpu's halving your performance, so if you like to play both AAA and other game titles I would re sell and go with the 980ti just to get that extra performance in non AAA games.
