I am not a gamer so I don't need anything for that. I mainly work in Photoshop and watch videos on my system.

I am looking for a 2k 27" monitor. I currently have a Sapphire 6950 Video card which if I recall may not drive a 2k monitor. So I guess I will have to upgrade that as well. So I was thinking of an R7 370 card.

I guess IPS is the way to go, I am using Samsung Monitors currently a like them a great deal. They do PLS which I hear requires color calibration to keep them accurate. I could be wrong on that so correct me if I am.

Thanks in advance for the help. Oh and I plan on getting this by weeks end as the tax refund is due tomorrow.

How serious are you in Photoshop, from a scale of 1-10? Do you have full (100%) control of light in the room you will use the monitors in?

If you don't have full light control in a room, it doesn't matter how much money you spend to have one factory calibrated (professional monitor), or calibrating yourself -- it still can't display accurate colors. For instance; If I were to buy a good IPS monitor, and I calibrate it in a dark room. If I then turn on the lights, then it won't be accurate any longer, hence why I'm asking how serious you are.

All monitors require color calibration, the only difference between consumer and pro, is that pro needs less frequent calibrating than consumer does.

Well I am a rank amateur when it comes to Photoshop am a 4-5. I have crap lighting in my room as well. I understand where you are coming from and appreciate it. Again I am an amateur with Photoshop and graphics apps. I just want something that will give me a good image. I always work with all the lights on in my room. I should have stated my level of expertise in the original post.

That is at the upper range of my budget as I want to keep the monitor and video card under 600. That would be US. I have heard great things about Dell Monitors. I could probably get it and forgo the video card at this time.

Your graphics card is capable of 2560x1600. It'll do 2560x1440@60 Hz via DisplayPort, no worries. :)

You really only want graphics power if you're working with a lot of effects. Layers, etc, don't benefit from a good graphics card. If you're using 3D modelling apps, or other apps that require a fast graphics card, then you might want to upgrade, but literally no point in upgrading unless you know for a fact it'll be worth it. :)

As I have said I am a bit out of touch with current technology. I do use blender to mess with some stuff. I just do some simple tutorials with it. So I will probably consider that one. So I would need to run it with display port to get that resolution or will dvi get also?

Again thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

Only Photoshop CC, CS6 and Lightroom can use GPU acceleration, and even then, only for certain functions.

I'm a photographer myself and you'll definitely want an IPS panel with 100% sRGB gamut. The gamut refers to how accurate colour looks when a digital and printed image are compared. A low gamut can result in reds printing as oranges, blues printing as purples, etc.

I have an AOC Q2577PWQ, which is a 2560x1440 IPS monitor with 100% sRGB gamut. I highly recommend it.

Thank you for the responses. I was going to get the Dell recommended but I unfortunately can't swing the price. I found this monitor ASUS PB278Q and have seen great reviews of it. This is in the price range I can afford. $408.99 on Amazon. https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/PB278Q/

Any thoughts on this one?
