I am a gamer and I play a lot of games, the majority of games work fine, but some games and when I try to record some it lags quite a lot and it gets annoying - #check out my YT channel... Jk.

These are my PC specks:

  • Motherboard: M5A99X EVO R2.0
    graphics card: gigabyte geforce GTX 960 4gb
    memory: 16gb ram G.Skill Ripjaws-X DIMM 240-pin
    Storage: Seagate 1tb SSHD Hybrid
    Processor: AMD FX 8 core 4.2GHz
What do you think, I'm not sure, tell me what you think is better to do get more RAM or get a second graphics card. Thanks if you answer

Honestly, if I were him, I'd just save some more and upgrade a single GPU. 1070 when it drops?

Getting a new graphics card maybe? Like the 970 or 980 depending on your money.

Second GPU. 16GB is MORE than enough for modern games, tasks, and such. Games almost NEVER have trouble with more than 16 GB of RAM; in fact the highest recommended I have ever heard of was 12GB. A Second GPU/New GPU will contribute to higher FPS far more than more RAM.

Source: 380X and 16GB of RAM, most games run fine on high.

Adding a second 960 4GB in SLI will actually give a lot of benefit in supported games, unlike the 970/980 in SLI
it can almost double your fps

But..

* Not all games are supported
* More noise
* More heat
* Input lag of 30ms and microstutter's
* extra PSU requirements
* Other strange occurrences like black screens and BSOD, game crashes etc

You have plenty of RAM. I'd say it's more likely your motherboard/CPU combo holding you back.
