Question 2nd Monitor Connected to Displayport Dongle Goes Grey Occasionally

My second monitor, a HP W2082a, is connected to a 2070 Super via DVI to DisplayPort adapter. Occasionally the screen goes grey but it is still on and I can still drag windows and my mouse over to the monitor I just can't see it. The only fix that has worked for me is to unplug and replug in either the DisplayPort end (the monitor is DVI and the port on the 2070 Super is a DisplayPort) or the usb connected to the pc for it to come back. I believe the adapter is the BENFEI DisplayPort to DVI DVI-D Dual Link Adapter.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
Main monitor: AOPEN by Acer 22CV1Q
Secondary monitor: HP W2082a

get a HDMI to DVI-D dual link cable
this is a direct connection and directly compatible and cheaper than an active adapter

Would a DVI to Displayport cable work? Cause I already am using the only HDMI port on the GPU

you can try, but if the adapter won't work well a different cable adapter could do the same problems as well. Would get a new monitor instead with DP
