I also have a two floor house and need to have better wireless in the top floor. I have made all the configurations posted in other topics and made the connections in the correct ports. When I connect my PC to a lan port in the second router it gets IP from the first router and everything works fine. When I connect my PC to the second router with a wireless connection it cannot get IP and even if I force an alternate manual IP I don't get connection to the first router.
My equipment:
- Thomson 784g as first router
- Belkin as second router
- Belkin HD Powerline 1Gb
Configurations made:
- shitch off DHCP in second router;
- gave second router a fixed IP in the same range IP network of first router but outside the first router DHPC IP range;
- made in the second router the same wifi configurations as in the first router (to be able to do roaming)
- disabled everything in the second router (NAT, DHCP, Firewall, DMZ, Broadband PPoE, etc)
Connections made:
- RJ45 cable between lan port of router 1 and first powerline device
- Rj45 cable between lan port of router 2 and second powerline device
- RJ45 cable between other lan port of router 2 and PC (for testing purposes, as what I really want is to use my mobile devices with wifi).
Any hints?
Regards
