Looking to buy a 1660 or 1660ti that has 8-pin cable connector and my PSU has 2x 6-pin PCIe will it work without issues? (450w)

What's the make and model number of your PSU ?? Are there only TWO 6-PIN cables for the GPU ? Because, there are no separate 8-PIN PCI-E connectors. They all come as a splitter 6+2 -PIN. If your PSU lacks an 8-PIN connector, then you need to change and upgrade your PSU.

My PSU has a cable for the gpu that splits to a 6-pin and a 2-pin that equals 8.
thats my psu sorry for the language but u can mostly understand if u scroll down https://www.plaisio.gr/anavathmisi-...o-X-Psu-Bulk-Iv-Series-450-W-CP_450A-PPFC.htm

Okay. Wait a minute. Then that page/link should have have written 2 6+2 =pin cables, because it just say 2 X 6-pin, but the picture shows a 6+2 cable. Anyways, never mind, this looks like a poor quality Generic PSU. Do NOT use this on any Gaming PC.

I'm skeptical about the build quality of this unit. But since it might be a generic cheap PSU, I won't advice you to use this unit.

PSU is the last component you might want to cheap out on, or skimp. Try to get some other high quality PSU, IF possible. Power supplies are an imperative part of your system that should not be taken lightly. Throwing in a budget PSU could result in poor power efficiency or even a wrecked system. Don't SKIMP on the PSU,, since this is the MOST important PC component. I can't stress this enough.

Well the thing is that I'm aware of the cheap psu i have but i havent had any problems ever with it. I'm probably gonna buy another psu soon higher quality apparently but should it be 6+2 or a solid 8 pin for the gpu? Also what if I buy the gpu and connect it with my current psu with the x2 6-pin? Will it work? Is it dangerous? Are there gonna be any issues?

I've already clarified this before as well. There are no separate 8-PIN PCI-e cables, they all come as a 6+2 PIN PEG connector. 6+2=8, same thing. Yes, it wold be dangerous to use your current PSU on a gaming GPU/PC.

Your psu has only 240W on 12V rail.
GTX 1660/1660ti alone will eat up 120W. Rest of the system is left with only 120W.

This can end up very badly. Your psu doesn't seem to have any certification or protections built in. It can blow up and kill your pc (including your new and expensive gpu).

Problems are far more than just an issue of not turning on.

How are you checking your voltage regulation? How are you measuring the ripple or the in-rush current? How did you test the over power protection? How is this power supply doing in crossload tests?

If you can't answer those questions, you can't actually know if you have problems with your PSU. And since most people don't have oscilloscopes and load testers hanging around, the idea is to go with quality power supplies on known platforms, not whatever dodgy Chinese junk can be had for a few bucks.

The consequences are similar to drunk driving. The best-case scenario is that your components survive. The worst-case scenario is that some or all of them...don't.

Well guys you all have convinced me to buy a new PSU which one do you recommend? I'd prefer either a corsair one or a seasonic. Thank you all for the help with that I was a complete ignorant about the consequences!

What's your budget for the PSU ? The recommended PSU is 450 Watts as minimum for the GTX 1660/ti. Though, you should go for a higher wattage PSU, 550-600 Watts, just for some extra headroom as well, if you plan to upgrade your GPU in near future. What are you FULL system specs ?

I would recommend you to get the following PSU models and brands. These are high quality units. Look for similar SKUs, assuming you can get them near your location.

SEASONIC PRIME, and Prime Ultra, or FOCUS Plus GOLD, Focus Plus Platinum.

CORSAIR AXi, RMi, RMx 550/650W, SF, HX 2017, HXi.

FSP - Hydro PTM 550/650W.

Cooler Master - MasterWatt Maker MiJ, V series 550/650W.

Antec
- High Current Pro, High Current Platinum, Earthwatts Pro Gold, HCG Gold.

Super Flower - Leadex Gold II.

be Quiet! - Dark Power Pro 11, Straight Power 11, Dark Power Pro P10.

EVGA -Supernova G1+, GQ, P2, T2, G2, B2, BQ =>750.
