Hey,

I am building a new PC (I plan to pay around 2000€ (a bit less)) for the computer only -ie: no screen or whatever- my main interest for it being gaming.

I am not sure wether I should go for 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC 4 Go, as I have seen in some recent build, or just one 980 Ti.
Do you have any advices regarding this ? :)

I also attach to this thread the config I thought about, if you guys have any comments they are welcome !

Processor : Intel Core i5-6600K (3.5 GHz)
Motherboard : Gigabyte Z170MX-Gaming 5
Memory : DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX, Noir, 2 x 8 Go, 3200 MHz, CAS 16
Cooling : Noctua NH-U9S
Graphic card 1 : EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+, 4 Go
Graphic card 2 : EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC GAMING ACX 2.0+, 4 Go
SSD : Samsung Série 850 EVO, 500 Go, SATA III
Case : Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5
Power Supply : EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2, 850W
Optical : Asus BW-16D1HT, Noir

Thanks !

Edit: Should say that I plan on using an Asus PB287Q screen (so 3840x2160 resolution)

Solution
Always go for the better single card, it's better. Also, why not go with the 1070/1080? They're priced better and give more performance.

some games the 980 ti is faster some games the 970 sli is faster but the 980 ti has 6gb vram when the 970 has 3.5 or 4gb
a gtx 1070 is cheaper than both and faster

So, basically if I change these two 970 for a 1080, what do you think of my config ?
Especially, do I still need 850W power, or can I go for less ? What about the rest ?

Thank you very much for your answers, it's really helping !
