3 0 hard drive will it work on my computer?

I have a 3.0 USB external hard drive but my older computer is not 3.0. What do I need for my computer to access the faster 3.0 speed?

A USB 3.0 controller card and cable. It uses additional wires over 2.0; nothing can make a 2.0 port run at 3.0 speeds.

Your older computer will access the drive perfectly well, but only at USB 2.0 speeds.
