Hello All, This may have been asked but I need help. I have an Corsair 1200 watt PS, an Asus Crosshair V formula Z MB, AMD 4GHZ 8 Core CPU, 32 Gig 1600 speed G-Skill RAM, Corsair H100i Water Cooler, and a Asus R9 270 GPU, Here is the questions (Please Help) I have an HDMI 46" TV for movies and two 22" monitors both are DVI input. I would like to watch a movie on the TV and work two different programs on the two monitors. I have an adapter from the displayport output to HDMI female if needed. Please advise on hookup and operation of this question. I am Dr. Jon Brown (whynottravel.jeb@gmail.com) (253-503-1604) Thank you in advance!

Solution

This means you are using a passive adapter. You need to get an active DisplayPort to HDI adapter like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158348
AMD graphics cards support up to two monitors connected using DVI, HDMI or VGA.
Any additional monitors must be DisplayPort, or use an active DisplayPort adapter.
If your DisplayPort to HDMI adapter is active, then connect this to a DisplayPort output on the card and you should be fine.

Thank you both for these answers, however when I hook up the TV to HDMI and the two DVI monitors to the two DVI outputs, One of the monitors switches OFF. I have put the HDMI input from the TV to the DisplayPort output with the adapter, but the same thing happens. Please readvise. Dr. Brown

Your card - http://www.asus.com/au/Graphics_Cards/R9270XDC2T2GD5/

has D-Sub Output : Yes (via DVI to D-Sub adaptor x 1), DVI Output : 2, HDMI Output and Display Port

So you need to match them to your TV and monitors. Set it up in Control Panel, Display Settings.
